FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. Are there any particular care instructions?

All the pieces are food-safe and suitable for storing liquids, unless otherwise noted in the product description (only very particular pieces such as those made with the RAKU technique, would be not food-safe). All glazes used are lead-free.

Pieces with sensible parts (like handles) should be handled carefully and if cleaned in the dishwasher, special attention should be paid so that they don’t touch anything else during the program to avoid chipping. We do not recommend baking or broiling in them because some of the pieces with very thin walls may not withstand abrupt temperature changes.

We put our pieces in the microwaves on a daily basis and they work perfectly fine.

Clays used in OJEA STUDIO are either stoneware or porcelain. They both are high temperature clay bodies with a very low porosity when fired, however they may not be completely impermeable unless glazed. The unglazed bottoms of the pieces may slightly absorb liquids or retain stains.
Please be reminded that in pieces finished with matte glazes fingerprints may remain visible after handling.

4. Do you accept custom orders?

We do not generally accommodate custom orders on demand. Ceramics is an art so it comes with a pinch of uncertainty. In order to ensure our clients full satisfaction we prefer to work on a portfolio basis. That being said, if you think you still might be interested in a bulk custom order, please email us to info@ojeastudio.com.

We are enthusiastically open to collaborations with restaurants, art galleries or other artists.

5. Where is your production located and under what standards?

All our pieces are hand made in our studio located in Vigo, in the beautiful Atlantic Coast of Galicia, Spain. They are the result of meticulous hard work in a happy environment.

We care a lot about the sustainability of what we do. All OJEA STUDIO pieces are designed and made to last, to be durable, resist trends and remain functional over time. All unfired clay scraps and the overspray from the glazing booth are recovered and recycled for reuse. Products are shipped with 100% recycled cardboard and paper, and GOTS and Fairtrade certified organic cotton bags.
